Stern words for a shady service manager?

I just got an email from a certain Toyota dealership about getting some 6 mo. service done. This was my response and a true story:

"Last time I came to your shop for work, your manager tried to overcharge me $50 after previously quoting a lower value. They checked the quote in the computer after doubting what I said and I was right. So they gave me $30 off the value the manager quoted me and insisted bold-faced upon. What a joke. Certainly not deserving of any of my future business."

Was that too harsh a response? Fortunately, there are other dealerships in the area :D

Too stern? LOL, not at all. Dealership service personnel deal with much worse than that every day. I'm sure they won't even blink an eye over your email.

BTW, was it really the service manager who overcharged you? Service managers normally have nothing to do with giving customers quotes or dealing with the pricing end of the business. You might be confusing the service manager with the service writer (or advisor)...you know, the guy behind the desk to takes your keys and "writes up" the paperwork for your visit.

Agreed... depending on who you sent it to, it may never have seen the light of day.

... and often doesn't know squat... and whose job requirement is to make as much profit for the stealership as possible.
