i have a 01 4runner with 125,000 miles which i got 2 years ago when i turned 17. I love the handling, but don't like the stiffness. I feel every bump in the road. When I went offroad, it was annoying as well. If i go over a speed bump just a little too fast, the whole car shudders and things in the car get rearranged. I dont want to lift it, i just want a smooth ride. i dont know what to buy...im new to all of this..

Replace your shocks with OEM and if you need springs get OEM as well, this should give you a ride that you experienced when the truck was new(er). Call Toyota for the part numbers and price.

Use the time to use the excuse to replace your shocks and coils with some that will give you a lift!! I'm in the same boat and that's what I'm doing. All new shocks and used tundra/LC coils to get a 2-3" lift. Have fun!

Read my thread, "Jitters on bumps". It covers alot

The toyota people told me my suspension was fine. Could someone tell me what to buy or what to tell the people who work on my suspension? I'm new to all of this and don't know much. I want a ride like a 4rth gen runner or tacoma. Softer, but still off-road worthy.

Mine is a 2wd with all stock suspension. Bilsteins were nice and relatively soft ride. When they wore out I put on KYB which were noticeably stiffer with a harsher ride.

What load range are your tires?

My truck road pretty harsh with my E load range duratracks I had on before. It's like night and day difference between E and C on my 4runner.
