Hello all, I thought it was high time to thank you for this site and the fantastic information it provides (along with hours of productivity-killing surfability!)
This deadly combination has put a significant dent in my pocketbook.
I'm in the middle of a project whereby I pay a large sum of money to swap a diesel engine into the legendary 3rd gen 4Runner platform. Why? Well, the answer to that would depend on who you ask:
That was bad enough. THEN I got hold of this site and all the evil truck porn about lifts, tires, bumpers, clear corners, LED tails, tinting, and all that other Deviltry, and hept saying to myself, "Self, you might as well do that now while it's ripped apart, and besides, if you don't there is a good chance you'll not get the chance to do it later without another big brawl with The Boss"
Luckily, I listened to Self and am now the nervous anticipating owner-to-be of a '97 Black SR5 with a diesel swap, SS7.2, 265/75/16 BFG AT, shrockworks bumper and a few other odds and ends.
I will post a build in the 3rd Gen section later as it gets put together, but for now it is simply too scary for me to even look at.
I should mention that I am not doing the work, as I have neither the time, skills, or tool set (I hear it must be at least as good as Spicoli's dad's set of tools). So instead, I'm breaking my butt trying to earn enough to cover my dream truck.
I plan on using this as my camping, fishing, and Tahoe truck as well as my family hauler, so I went for keeping it moderate enough to drive it around San Francisco on a daily basis, while giving it enough brawn to get me to those mountain lakes off the beaten path.

- Crunchy hippy type friend - "So you can run bio-diesel! Far out!"
- Self - "an economical and torquey diesel in the perfect mixture of urban family hauling and capable off road vehicle! I've always loved this truck anyway."
