Still no solution for 4R towing mirrors

I'm getting real tired of strap-on / clamp-on towing mirrors and their associated issues. I would really like a direct mount solution that is readily available for Tacos, Tundras, Sequoia and most US trucks. Why no one does a 4Runner mirror escapes me.

There is a well known mod to *I think* RAV4 mirrors to add integral BSM on 14+ 4runners, please search as it's not far (Maybe someone can link?)

Spot mirrors for towing

Hi Zonzin,
Only the Toyota Tundra mirror looks like an improvement over the stock 4Runner mirror. The mirror is bigger in area than the T4R mirror and it has a wide angle viewer across the bottom. The other two seem to be the same size and distance from the door as the T4R stock mirror.

I put round spot mirrors on both my side mirrors. I have a 3" mirror on the driver's side and a 3 1/4" or 3 1/2" (I forget which) spot on the passenger side. These work as well as the Rav4 conversion everyone raves about and it costs a lot less. The round spot mirrors are all less than $10 on Amazon and they go on in a New York minute.

BTW, I finished my Baxter Performance remote oil filter installation. The remote location was a lot of work and the hoses are a vulnerable link in the system. If a hose leaks, you're stuck until you can get it to a shop or home. You were right. The spin on filter under the engine is the easy secure way to have a disposable filter.

I think I forgot to say it's much nicer towing my boat with the long style blind spot mirrors (BSM) that I linked too. I can see 3 lanes on each side with them and they take away a good bit of stress while I'm towing.

YMMV. Buy the taco kit and try it? Then sell it on TW (tacomaworld) if you can't get it to work right.

Looks great for daily driving but still requires too much squinting while towing.

I will search for the Rav solution.

Already have blind spot mirror, just don't reach around the trailer enough.

Yep,, have the 3" BSM,, don't give me what I want to see around the trailer.

The strap on mirrors do but the straps fail and mirror goes boom,, happened a couple of times already.

Yep,, loving the spin-on mod,,so much easier on oil changes.

Can someone comment on this, I'm planning on getting a 7' wide cargo trailer to pull behind my 2003 4R, do I need extension side mirrors for this width of trailer. Thanks.

I use clamp in towing mirrors when I tow my pontoon boat which is 7 feet wide .
