Been about 6 months since I posted here about the horrible ride on my 06 SE 4x4. At the time I complained about the ride being really bumpy but also dipping on the front passenger side when I'd hit potholes. Turns out I did have a leak in the XREAS suspension so I had a mechanic disable it and put in KYBs (but left the coils in place). These were the same shocks that a separate Toyota mechanic recommended I put in in place of replacing the XREAS system. Well it helped the dipping but for the past 6 months it feels like I don't have a suspension at all and every single bump in the road gets transferred completely through the frame. It's constantly rocking side to side and up and down as I drive down the road. And, for a few days a couple months ago, every time I'd hit larger bumps the truck would kind of bottom out, I'd hear this popping sound (kind of like when you crack your knuckles), and would feel pressure against the bottom of my left foot, like the shock was hitting my foot. That hasn't happened in a couple months but for a couple days it was bad. I'm to the point where I hitch rides with friends everywhere because I hate driving it so much and am going to sell it - but in the meantime I'm trying to figure out what to buy instead. But is there an explanation for all the issues I've been having and why it would be as rough as it is with a new suspension? I have taken the truck back to the mechanic who worked on it to drive but he said that's kind of to be expected and said he worked on another 4runner and the ride afterward was similarly really uncomfortable and the guy ended up selling it. I still have this remote hope there's something I can do to get it to drive like all the other 4runners I've been in but I don't know what else to do. Thanks.
