Still safe to hit the trails?

Hi all, I am in the mountains of CO right now, and just started my 3 day break from being a camp counselor "yay yay yay" I wanted to hit a few trials, but noticed when driving my truck that there was a clunking sound, the front right sway bar link is broken!!! I simply moved it a bit so it wouldn't clunnk, and really... I can't notice any difference in the handling.... Is it safe to drive it offroad still?? I don't know what the sway bar really does, I kinda thought it was for higher speed driving. Thanks!

yes u should be fine, i drove mine just around the city for a long time b4 i relized something was messed up... so a small trip should not phaze the 4runner

As shootmymine said, you should be fine, but understand that you will now have slightly improved wheel travel at the front. This can be good for traction but can also be bad for your cv's. The swaybar tries to prevent excess body roll when cornering. In a way they actually try to defeat the vehicle suspension when it wants to compress on side and extend the other. Wikipedia has a good description of sway bars if you want to learn more.

Well, you will feel more sway when cornering right (or whatever side the "right" endlink is). Personally, I would take them both off for the time being. Take the sway bar off, too. It'll be a good time to get some poly bushings (from Wheeler's). Also, get some WabFab quick disco endlinks. They are STOUT!

awesome guys thanks for the advice! Today was a blast, got up the trail w/ no prob!!! I will get the quick disconnects for sure! Thanks for the wiki tip too! That helped a lot!
