Stink Bug infestation. Should I bomb the truck??

Stink status....

Wow! Sorry for the delay, I was down in Jacksonville for mem day weekend and have been busy with work since.

So these M-Fing stinkers had been pretty steady since late April. For a few weeks I was typically seeing 2-3/day when I would get in the truck, and on certain days, I could see up to 5-6 or 7 after opening the truck.

I carry a can of computer air duster that I grabbed from work in the center console that I use to either shoot the stinkers out or stun/freeze them so I can get them out before they stink me.

Beginning towards the end of last week, it's been extremely hot and humid in central MD, and I had one day last week where I didn't have to remove a single stink bug. I woke up at 6am friday morning, removed one stinkbug, and drove to the airport fast park where my truck sat, baking in the 90F+ heat, for 4 days while I was in FL. Got back late monday night, flicked out 2 upside-down, DEAD stink bugs, and have yet to see another since. It's continued to be extremely hot here in the mid-atlantic this week and I'm thinking that's why I haven't seen a live stink bug in >6 days.

Whether or not they're gone for good, time will only tell. I'm just living life one day at a time for now and everyday I don't have a stink bug is a good day. If they come back when it cools down I will consider one of the ideas posted above (although I'm a little apprehensive about putting balled up acetone rags in my truck), and I will step-up the fight.

Man, they are truly a horrible distraction and pain in the ass when they're in the truck.


I think this guy had the right idea, but I hope they stay gone when it cools off:

Park it outside on a really hot day with the windows shut.

That should take care of the problem. I can't imagine too many insects that can live in 150 degree + temperatures.

I was listening to 105.7 the fan on the way into work yesterday morning and someone called in and said that a pittsburgh radio show had posted a video on youtube on how to make a stink bug trap out of a 2 liter bottle and a led light. I haven't watched it but they said they found it on youtube and were going to post a link to their twitter page if you want to check that out. They said it looked real easy to make and seemed to actually work.

I don't know about the OP, but here in NJ they were very annoying for a few years, and then we pretty much stopped seeing them. One shows up every now and then but not enough to be annoying,

Maybe our pollution did them in or some local beastie decided they were good to eat.
