Fender flares gone, added some mud flaps because I like the look and it keeps a lot of the mud and dirt off the truck

Limited before/after

1 week after purchasing my 4Runner, I finally got the chance to remove the running boards. Definitely gives it a more lifted look.

Though taking off the running boards is only the beginning........next you'll want a lift.....and......

Do you have a mudguard on? Or what is the part hanging down from on the front wheel? I was considering taking mine off but wasn't sure what it would look like since the from and back part of the running board is different

I have a rather specific question about the removal process. I was following this guide [1] pretty closely and everything was fine until the front bracket. The top nut which is connected to the stud almost looks like it's welded to the bracket on my 2000 Limited. I've attached a picture. Clearly the regular 13mm socket doesn't work, and I've tried various other sizes including a 1/2 inch to no avail. Anyone have this same experience and have some insight? Having looked at several of these threads I haven't heard of anyone having quite this particular issue before. All the other brackets I have gotten to come off with some TLC, but this last one is puzzling me.

It is welded on. If you got it to turn on the other side then you broke the spot welds. Only turn it from the bolt side.

So, if I'm reading this correctly, the "other side" in your comment here is the side pictured above, and I should not be turning that side--rather turn the other side which is a bolt?

I think that's where I'm getting confused since I'm interpreting "stud" to mean "thing that is usually a bolt" which I'm not supposed to remove, since he mentions that it does not come off the frame and is secured with a 13mm nut. Sorry about my ignorance here--just starting to learn about this terminology.

If I remember correctly, the front nut is welded on. Just loosen the bolt from the other side, and the nut stays attached to the vehicle. That's if I remember correctly. Something like that.
