This is my 98 and I'm considering taking the running boards off but I am concerned that the part behind the front wheel will look weird when they are off. Anybody know if there is a way to cut that part off or remove it? Or does it look normal?

It will look weird but there are SR5 caps for board-less SR5 Runners. Difficult to find.

I own a SR5 without running boards, i had to remove them due to the fact it had a accident and the bolds on one side are all twisted. Ill get you pics tomorrow ^^ i tbh prefer with running boards. without them, ive been killing the paint on the 4runner doors and side panels due to rock and all :C gotta repaint all of the doors this summer due to that.

Here my sr5 without the running board i cant wait to put them back on tho haha, i miss the style and protection they offer. If it was summer i could show you the damage a year without running board did to the paint, but right now its winter cant take pics of a clean underbody haha

So I just bought a 2016 sr5 and want to do a little off roading. What mods do I need to do to get it ready for the trail? I figured I could get a little more clearance if I remove the running boards. Is it worth it and is it easy?

I took mine off. They were pretty rusty and I had to use a torch to get the bolts out so I can remove the brackets. As you can see in the picture I didn't have the brackets off yet. I absolutely love the look without the running boards and I'm tall enough where it doesn't matter.
