Stock 97 4 Runner Limiter Shock/Lift ?

Have a Limited 4x4 that is stock. The rear end sag was fixed under the Toyota factory repair/recall.

I just put some 265/75/16 Revo 2 on it, and they are close to rubbing in the front. I was going to go ahead and put the lift on the front and rear. It is the spacer kind. Came with it when purchased used. 2 1/2" front and rear.

From what I gather after reading this forum is the 2 1/2" is to much of a lift to do without a track bar on the rear end being replaced to realign the axle. Is that the only issue with the rear end?

The front end is ok other than the significant angle the small driveshafts will be under with the 2 1/2" lift. That will cause premature wear and possibly vibration. Anything else to worry about with the front end?

This has about 125K miles on it.

How much lift is ok without having to swap out the shocks for longer ones?

you do not need to the panhard bar drop for a 2.5 inch lift. Alot of people are running 3+ inches (myself included) with nothing done to the pan hard bar.

as for the front, i would recommend a diff drop kit to help with the CV angles

Read the lift sticky for everything you could ever want to know about lifts.

You dont need anything for that 2.5 inch spacer kit but a Diff drop for the front,

you could run 285's on your rig with some rubbing at full wheel lock, I ran 285s with skyjacker 2.5 inch spacers no problem

How hard is a differential drop kit to install?

The tires are close to rubbing on the fender well when they tires are turned about halfway between straight and full lock. When pulling in and out of a driveway with an angle change, then they rub. Just worried that at some point the fender well pieces are going to get caught and yanked out of place/broke.

Have to get some pics.

I wouldnt recommend lifting it at all unless you get new shocks.

you can get procomp es9000 for the back that are extended for 2.5 of lift and are cheap, but the bilstein 5125s are prob the best bang for your buck

Diff drop is easy, loosen/remove two bolts, the diff drops, put in the spacers and put back in the longer two bolts

the fender well is overrated... let it get tore up, or take it out all together :thumb3:

Good luck with the lift!

I have a question on the shocks with lift as well. I have the lift I want and shocks for rear...now what about front shocks? I want nice ride still I'm not convinced OME will be good enough. Is there any other suggestions with 881's up front? Ranchos? Toks? Etc.. Experience with them etc..

I was told that if you stick with stock shocks with lift you wont get travel/articulation but it will work for awhile. Incase you were wonderin as well

Thanks in advance trying to stay on topic.
