Stock headlight replacement options??

Alright guys. I went and got myself a set of these Spec D Headlights I like how they look and they match my tails. Okay sounds good great... Not so much! The light is ghastly! I mean I'm really disappointed in them. The light is scattered badly and they really just suck. The problem is my oem lights are badly cracked. One has 3 holes and takes on water like a sinking ship. The other fogs like a bastard.

I guess I'm asking what the hell should I do? If I order some cheap stock replacements online are they going to be similar quality?

Should I just toss in some fog lights to fill in the gap.

I think a projector retrofit is more money then I want to sink into my lights not to mention I'm good with a wrench but that kind of work... well I'm not the most meticulous and patient type when working with plastic and I fear I'd trash the housing on my over priced replacements lol.

Contact Keystone, they have aftermarket parts and back them up with a great warranty. I have one of their fenders on my 4Runner and it fits just fine. If you aren't happy with the quality of their products, they will take them back no questions asked.

Nice to see a Canadian supplier but the problem isn't where to get it's what to get. I was hopping to find some first hand experience with after market headlights. But If I return these I'll be calling them and see what they can do. The site I bought these from is being really good I'm not even on the hook for return shipping and getting a full refund so I can't complain. I'm just trying to decided if I'll do it or not.

I can call my Toyota source Monday and see what OEM 99 headlights go for. Toyotapartsales.com has them for 196 each, which I am sure I can match through my contacts. Then it is just a matter of shipping them to Canada, which I have no idea how much it will be, but I can certainly find out. It looks like www.Toyotapartsales.com will ship to Canada.

What kind of projector kit? I know The Retrofit Source has some kits for about 300 bucks, but you said your housings were bad, so you'd still need new housing before you could retro projectors.

Well the glass is. But if I retro i'll buy the cheap depo headlights and use the glass on my old housing. Either way I won't be dumping that much into my headlights right now and if I don't it will be for something other then stock unless they turn up at a junker. Brand new OEM replacements as nice as that would be really isn't what I'm looking for.

Unless I miss part of the thread, take the glass out of the new headlights (heat them in oven, pull apart slowly) and stick on old headlights. That's what I did when I made my projectors.

Those lights are probably just made by TYC, they make all the aftermarket headlights I have ever heard of.

You should bake the lights, remove the clear glass and swap it onto your "good" OEM headlight. The OEM light pattern is far superior.

Yeah see I was afraid that might be the case. So likely if I got a cheap set of oem replacments I'd be in the same light boat eh... Damn maybe I'll keep these and get some bad ass fogs or go projector....

I agree. I recently switched to '99+ OEM' headlights and they are way better! Found them both in the classified section.

Yeah I'm gonna send back the spec d ones and see if I can find a wrecker one to replace the bad light I guess I'll see what the wreckers have
