Stock Running Board Inquiry

Good evening all,

Tonight I have a pretty simple question for y'all...

The stock 4th gen running boards... any sort of body/frame rail protection provided by them? I took mine off, started looking into sliders but over dinner had a discussion with a friend-o-mine and said his stock steps work great as sliders. Granted, he is in a Tahoe, but still... could they work?

They do not provide any protection whatsoever. In fact they could actually cause damage if they get smashed up into your doors. You are better off without them off road but a decent set of sliders is the only way you will get true protection for your rocker panels. I hope that helps.

I agree with Burn, they don't offer any protection, mine bent backwards into my tire.

Looking at stock running boards sitting on my garage floor, I'd have to concur. No protection provided.
