Stock stero.. Two anntenas

while installing my new pioneer deck i cam across that there are two antenna plugs. on all new decks there is only room for the bigger of the two what do you do with the second

no adapter that i have seen ... not sure if an adapter would help. The second smaller plug is the secondary antenna (the one in the glass) Toyota factory radios are dual diversity so they can utilize the second antenna, aftermarket radios are not.

The real question should be who listens to the radio anyway? lol

I took out my motorized antennae unit and replaced it with the whip antennae from a Taco, but then swiftly unscrewed the antennae and proceeded to never use the radio ever again. The antennae sits neatly under my rear cargo mat. :cool:
 
I listen to sports radio but music is now through my iPod only but an antenna is nice to have if there is a need to use the radio especially on long trips and you need a weather update.

even for weather i grab my laptop and check online ... i would have to be in a pretty remote area to not have signal for my sprint card.

i do still have a functioning antenna in the truck though .... i just used the main power antenna and tucked away the secondary one, just like i have done in all the other toyota vehicles that i have/had.
 
i just got the system installed i put amp and sub in, have you guys ever delt with a moaning sound coming from the sub, it sounds like an electrical interference, and the sound changes with the change of the rpm or if you turn the music up you can no loner her it

sounds like the installer wired the power lines and the audio lines on the same side of your truck. You are hearing the noise that comes with that. The reason it goes with the RPM's is because the power is coming from the alternator, which is attached to the motor.
 
i put it all in, i put the amp under driver seat and the audio takes off from there, so its not on the same side. i have put systems in all my cars and never had this happen

I meant the power and audio to the amp, not the sub.
 
You may have bad grounds too. I would run your power wire on one side of the car and your RCA's and remote wire on the other side.

Well if you are completely confident that there were no installation errors and you have triple checked all your work, then it must be a hardware problem. See if you can find a friend with a similar setup and start switching parts out to narrow down the culprit.
 
i rerouted the the rca and the remote wire...no luck i tried moving the ground around....also no luck in fact at some points where i tried to ground it i picked up a pulsating sound threw the sub. pleas help
