Stock tires lifespan?

I just bought a used 2013 SR5. It only has 16k miles on it, but the stock Bridgestone Dueler HT tires look like they will need replacing at 20k. Is that normal? I have been using Bridgestone tires for long time, but they seem to be getting softer or something as my last set if Revo II tires were ridiculous. Sometimes it feels like a gimmick because they want you to go to more Bridgestones when they wear quick because of the small amount the warranty credit they give you back on your next set of Bridgestones.

I have 25k on mine so far. I'll probably replace in between 30-35k. I already have a set of cooper at3 P285/70/17 waiting to be mounted in the garage.

Tire life span is related to the pressure that you keep in your tires. What psi are you running?

"Goodyear provided data estimating that the average tread wear dropped to 68 percent of the original tread wear if tire pressure dropped from 35 psi to 17 psi. Goodyear also assumed that this relationship was linear. Thus, for every 1 psi drop in inflation pressure, tread wear would decrease by 1.78 percent [(100-68%)/(35-17psi)]. These effects would take place over the lifetime of the tire. In other words, if the tire remained under-inflated by 1 psi over its lifetime, the tread wear would decrease by 1.78 percent or about 800 miles (45,000*0.178). "

My stockers are almost at the wear bars, and are getting replaced this week. Will be about 72,000km -that's 44000 miles.

mine on my previous limited lasted through when i sold it at 50k. the tires on my trail that i only use on road trips have about 38-40k on them and plenty left. it all depends on how you drive and your air pressure and you should get an alignment once a yr. so i'm not surprised by the varying amount of treadlife on everyones vehicles

I have not used the stock tires too much as I only have 2500 on them but they aren't a bad road tire. I would prefer a good all terrain. I hope these do okay in the snow!

Ditched mine at 21,000 still have them in garage. They still have 8/32"s on them. They were a fine tire for the road and rain I thought. But I upgraded to a 285 at3' s

I had almost 37,000 miles on mine when they were replaced. I probably could have made it to 45,000 miles but they started to suck in the rain.

They are junk tires, but realistically I had them on some fire roads, and in the snow more than a few times and I got by OK.

I did get stuck at a pumpkin farm on a slight hill in wet grass. I was spinning all 4 wheels and a lady in a Honda Odyssey went around me and up the hill. How embarrassing.:noidea:

Depends on the tire brand. On the 4th gens I found the stock Dunlop AT20's were about half worn by 15-20k ish.

I see A LOT of Michelin tires just dry rot to hell within 2-3 year on our vehicles and some of the newer bridgestones seem to be doing the same.

I believe it. My not a week old 2015 SR5 4Runner has them. Its not a tire I would have picked, however the vast majority of or driving these days is pavement. Proper inflation and rotation is a key. I tend to let rotations go a little longer than most, say every 15k, it all seems to even out.

My 06' sport for 60K out of the OEM Dunlops and I actually liked those tires a lot. Replaced them with rugged trails, did not like them - 50k miles, then BFG ATs and those were pretty new when I traded it in. Too stiff a ride.

I'm going to wear the Bridgestone OEMs out and see how it goes. Our mileage is pretty low these days so I'm pretty sure they will age out before they wear out. 80k is great, we are on similar roads.

i got at least 5000 km out of my stock tires before i replaced them...

replaced them before a big road trip, just wanted to be more confident with my tires. sold the stock tires for around 300 bucks though!

I just turned over 45000km tonight and I'll be replacing the stock tires on Friday. They are still slightly above the wear bars but anything other than dry pavement makes them feel squirrelly.

Seriously, they seemed to be a pretty good tire on pavement, even wet pavement, but, unlike Antman, there is no way I wanted to suffer the embarrassment of being stuck at a pumpkin farm and passed by a Honda!

I really felt I needed at least a decent all terrain tire, so I replaced them early with some Cooper AT3's. - very happy! I have in the past driven around for three years on the OEM tires, wishing and hoping for them to wear out so I could replace them with good rubber ........ Not this time!

Honestly, I think they should be replaced the day you drive it off the lot.

but with it being a cheaper highway type tire, you shoud get decent mileage out of it. 30-35k is pretty common i think.

No reason they should be done that fast unless they weren't cared for (pressure maintained, rotation, balance, etc.). Mine went almost 50k before I replaced them and still had some tread on them when I did. And, believe me, I'm not the most anal person in the world when it comes to checking tire pressures. I do always rotate every 5k however.

I know this is an older thread, so I apologize for bringing it back to life, but had a question about your tires. I have a 2018 4runner TRD ORP w/ KDSS with Bridgestone Dueler H/T D684II stock tires. Debating on keeping them for a while or getting A/T tires. I've only put 500 miles on them so far. Anyway, my question is about the bulge in your tires. I noticed the same thing on mine and was wondering if that is normal? They are inflated to about 36 PSI and still have a somewhat noticable sidewall bulge at the contact point of all four tires. I'm used to lower profile tires so this seemed a bit odd. Let me know your thoughts if you have a minute.
