Stock tires Suck

Okay. My runner has only about 37K miles or so.

and my stock dunlop tires suck. there was a blizzard in chicago a couple of days ago, and ive been sliding all over town.
I was even stuck in the Burger King parking lot for 20 minutes trying to get out.....



I need to get new tires.


Ive been looking at some BFGoodrich tires, will shop around today at Sears, Toyota and Pep Boys

Yes, they do suck. I couldn't wait to replace mine and I finally did it couple of months ago even though there was still a good amount of tread left on the Dunlops. I went with Pirelli Scorpions and I'm pretty happy with them. I had to go somewhere in the middle of that last snow storm when the streets were not plowed at all and it didn't slow me down. People had a hard time trying to start when the light turned green and I would just go around them. So I guess what i'm saying is: get new tires.

Dont expect too much out of Dunlops.

you cant really expect too much from our stock tires, like everybody else, ill use my dunlops until i dont feel safe with this tires anymore. and so far, i've been 90% on-road and drives conservatively.

Argh, Sears, Toyota or Pep Boys? Man don't you have any real tire stores in your area? Costco, Sam's Club or BJ's have far better prices and selections. NTB (ok its now part of Sears), JustTires, Big-O or DiscountTire are good choices too. Or just order from TireRack. Read the sticky on getting them balanced properly!

I purchased my 4runner in May of 06 and it took just one look at the Dunflops to know that I would be replacing them in October/Nov I guess it was a good call. I put about 15K on the stock ones and I will put them back on this summer. Im on the road allot so I did not even want to take the chance whith them in the white stuff.

I cant think of an SUV I have owned that had great stock tires.

My 4Runner just turned 14k miles and we got a bunch of snow and ice this week. The stock Dunlops performed flawlessly. I have no complaints. No sliding or traction loss at all and I even tried to get it stuck once and the truck came out without any problems.

I think they are good tires for a stock vehicle.

Why is there such a performance difference between the Dunlop Grandtreks, and the Radial Rover Ats? I bought a 2000 SR5 in October that has the Radial Rovers with unknown mileage on them. They will need to be changed out before next winter, but they have been performing great in this storm we just had.
