Plastidip would add less than the weights used to balance the wheels and tires. The rotational mass from it would me small enough it wouldn't be felt, or be measurable.

The plastidip held up better than I expected. I put 20k miles on them in about 6 months. Of those miles, > 800miles were off road. The only touch up I had to do were places that the rock impacts had also taken aluminum with the platidip. I've got those wheel mounted on my off road trailer now. They will be getting swapped for some TRD 16"'ers tonight, and will be plastidipped before the weekend is out if the weather will cooperate.

very little prep. no scuffin:lookout:g, just wipe clean. no taping off in all honesty. I did, but you don't need to. don't need to remove from the truck and it dries quickly if you do thin coats. It actually started raining just as I finished the last wheel.

Justin_Geb sorry for piggy backing and hope I am not breaking any rules admin, but you brought something up I have been wanting to do with my 95 SR5 3.0L, Thsis pasti-Dip looks great on all of yours wheels. I s this an item I can pick up at like Home Depot or lowes? Is perpetration of the wheels important? Can you use high pressure washer to wash with. Thanks everybody, These look great!

while I've sold the truck, the dip was still going strong. Do it right and it will last. you can find it at both places for sure in the paint aisle. its just a spray can with a black cap. about $8 here though. I only used 1 and a 1/4 cans for all four wheels total. some use 1 per wheel. unnecessary in my opinion.

my prep consisted of carwash and wiping the wheel down with a crappy dorm paper towel. taped off the sidewall (apparently not necessary either) and just went for it. dried within 30 minutes for me.

1.5 years later I still have been as close as 4 inches with a real pressure washer (we have a wash bay at work) many times and it's been fine.

one thing to note, if you wheel it then try to wash it, the new dip will sort of turn white/chalky for a little bit. it will eventually go back to black.

Just curious but how does the plastidip hold up to having tires changed? I'm getting tires put on next month and not sure if I should wait until after they are put on or if I could put the plastidip on now without it getting chipped or scraped off when the tires get mounted. Thanks! Also, which brand of plasti dip are you using?

I don't know. It will probably scrape some off. You can just respray it though, this stuff is no big deal. It's not like paint where you have to sand everything off.
