Stolen Cat-cons...replacement ideas?

Some low-life chopped my catalytic converters out while I was at work Saturday night. I haven't really looked at it closely but Im sure my sensor ports are gone with it. If something like that has to be purchased as a unit I will just bolt it in myself. What I am wondering is if there is more than one option to remedy the gaping section of pipe? If there is an exhaust mod that would be comparable in price I would even consider that. Thanks for the input.


On a side note, don't think that that mid-90's burgandy Pathfinder will have any windows left in it if I see it around again.

Well you should just go with an aftermarket cat. You could get one for around 200 bucks. If you were to go OEM it would cost over $1500, and you really should have a cat.
 
I know stock we run 2 small ones inline. I have been told that one big one is an option however. How much of an option is that really? Also, there are several aftermarket cat brands out there, should I prefer one over the other?

i got a eastern cat to replace my supposedly dead 2nd cat, get the denso sensors from amazon.com as well. DO NOT get any other brand as the CEL will go on and off every other week.
 
bypass a cat- install a striaght pipe and buy a electronic device from Underdog Racing that tells the computer you have cats- if you do not have inspections in your county/state- did this in Miami to both of my Toys and they work great! end of stolen cat issue once and for all! the cat was stolen off of my 1997 4-Runner- in mid-day at a medical complex!

dont the o2 sims still require the o2 sensor to be installed and functional ?
 
So ever since I got ripped off Ive been hypersensative to any mid-90's burgandy (decription of the vehicle that robbed me) Pathfinder I see driving around town. One day I decide to go out to eat between shifts. As Im pulling into the parking lot I notice one. Furthermore, it is parked next to a 96 T4R and there was a dude sitting in it. So Im keeping my eyes on it waiting for him to go somewhere and he doesnt. They have a chick hanging out in front of the vehicle as a sort of lookout who was also present in the theft of my cats. I dont approach them mostly because Im wearing flip-flops and who knows...they could get violent. Long story short, when I see the guy pop up from the ground and jump into the truck really fast I take off running out of the restaurant and get the tag number. I found and informed the owner of the 96 and called in the info. I will get another call from the investigating officer here in a couple of days to pick the crew out of a line-up and testify in court. Too bad justice doesnt compensate my loses...

That's awesome!!! Glad to hear those d-bags are getting what's coming to them. Hopefully the judge throws the book at 'em.

You should put up a craigslist ad seeking other T4R owners who've recently had their cats stolen to possibly ID/testify as well. Get as many cases as you can thrown at those lowlifes.

I can't stand thiefs. While I work hard for what Iv've got, they feel like they can take what they want from anyone. Super pisses me off. I know it will take up some of your time to make sure they get what they deserve, but I hope you feel it is well worth it. Nice work detective!

Dude, that is awesome. The owner of that 96 owes you a frosty one if they can get his cat back. The skeptic in me wonders if this will actually result in curbing the thefts. You are, after all, asking some cops to get off their behinds and do some detective work. Hopefully they track this loser and his Ho down and make some charges stick.
I hope to see the bust one day on a future episode of COPS! :police:
 
Actually, now you need to get a little more paranoid and start carrying a camera around with you. You can take some pretty good video with a pocket cam.
 
I was just super lucky in timing. It only takes them a couple of minutes(if they are slow) at yanking those things. Honestly, what are the chances of happening upon that in progress? It was 2 in the afternoon. Im just hoping I can make this one come full circle. Get burned by the guy you ripped off two months ago...like getting punched in the nuts. If I ever find out where this guy lives he might come down with a chronic case of broken car windows. Tulsa is a small place...who knows

That is some really strong work right there; you should be proud.

There is a group of d-bags stealing cats in the Denver Metro area as well. Me thinks this is a national problem, but who knows. Anyway, congrats on getting another loser busted.
