Someone stole my spare tire and the whole dang assembly.
WTF...

URBAN LIFE...this what i get....






Does anyone know how much the replace assembly will cost?

Yeah there is a whole thread on this and in there you can find links to buy a spare tire lock.

If your truck came with the TPMS, you'll soon get the warning light.

Check out Ebay, I see rims with tires on there all the time. Hell you may even find yours on there ;):

Im sure I will buy the spare lock,....


but im wondering about the cable and parts. Im sure I can get a new tire for a fairly good price. BUT does anyone know about the price of the cable and assembly...

I just called Toyota, and they told me $110, but the guy didnt seem knowledgeable and may have not been looking at the right part
 
After reading all of the stolen tire threads, I noticed that it is occurring in the Chicago Illinois area.

One bit of advice concerning the Master Lock in those photos....

They do rust inside since water can/does get into them.
I have found that it is a very good idea to periodically unlock them and spray some lubricant into the lock mechanism then lock/unlock it a few times.
This keeps the lock and it's mechanism working smoothly when used on an outdoor application.
 
Stolen Spare? That's the damnest thing I heard. What's the use, unless it is another 4Runner owner.

They steal 4 and sell them as a set on Ebay or Craigs list. Or just pawn it. Or put it on another Toyota truck or SUV.

icantsee, just a suggestion, you might want to get a beefier lock. My friend had a similar lock on his Ford Exploder's spare and the lock's arm was easily cut albeit his cable was much thicker.

I also had to go the cable route. I couldn't find the solid spare lock anywhere either. I use the slightly thicker 12mm cable. No padlock, one less key for me to carry. They are both integrated combo locks until I find a better solution (other than carrying the spare inside but I think I am getting too paranoid at that point). I'm more worried about my wheel caps. Those are practically freebies if you think about it.
