I am trying to figure out the best way to stash my gear for long trips I am thinking of using old alice packs with webbing rivited to the sides of the interior and roof to mout a sleeping bags and recovery gear hen highlight and gas can mounted on the rearrear swing out

Not sure if this is "okay" but visit the build threads (and lose half your day) on expedition portal (google) and view the "most viewed" toyota rigs for some ideas. Your options are essentially limited only by how much you want to spend.

Sorry I was at work and in a bit of a rush coming to the end of a break I guess I should have asked for shots of what others had done. I am mostly trying to figure out the webbing side of this how others would go around attaching it. I already have bags that attach with Alice clips as I have used them for years for backpacking. I was thinking sleeping bags and a stuff bag for cloths on the headliner then recovery gear and other small pouches on the side panels. I have some tool holders from a fire truck to hold a ax and possibly a pick or hammer then I have a folding trenching tool that has Alice clips aswell

What year of truck?

After having used both types of attachment styles when falling out of airplanes, I like MOLLE better than ALICE.
Easier to swap crap out.

Having something bulky like a sleepING bag flopping around hanginger from the headliner (it won't support it anyway, unless to run some form of steEl material to reinforce it) would drive me insane

It's a 90 4runner I was also considering a bungee net for the roof I just happen to have the clips on the stufsacks because that's how I stuck them to my pack and I even have mounting loops for them on my sissybar bag on my motorcycle for trips. I have been lookin at the MOLLE since I saw a camlebak poutch that attached to a MOLLE vest
