Stowage Space

Has anyone found a stowage space in their 4th Gen. to stow away a good set of jumper cables? There's not enough room in the rear passenger side 'locker'. (I use that term loosely). I peeked into the rear driver's side locker, where the jack and tools reside. I didn't pull all that stuff out, but it doesn't look large enough to stash the cables anyway.
I'm almost tempted to stuff the cables in the glove compartment, but it'd probably jam the lock or break the cheap plastic.

I got one of those great Rubbermaid 'under the bed' tupperware boxes that fits perfectly under the DD shelf. I guess I can stow the cables there, but I love that Rubbermaid box to hold Costco purchases, which I carry into the house in the box. Moving around the jumper cables (which I may use only a few times, ever) every time I move the storage box is a PIA.
Oh well, life's a bitch, isn't it?

You can definitely fit it where the jack is if you get a little creative with positioning the wire/clamps. You can also try under the front seats.

It's too bad the 4Runner doesn't have a large stowage space that can be secured.
That toolbox thing is nice, but I've already done that with the Rubbermaid box.

OK, I guess I just need to learn how to live with this POS SUV.

I managed to stuff a 6' set of jumper cables in with the jack... a tight fit, for sure, but at least it doesn't rattle. Any longers than 6' and I doubt the cables would fit.

The 4th Gen does have a woeful lack of decent storage space. Some sort of in-floor or under-seat cubby would have been useful. The tool box idea is fine but I bought an SUV for cargo space and having a honking great toolbox in the back eats up too much of that valuable cargo space.

Jumper Cable stow

I have a set of jumper cables stored under the rear compartment seats. They are not wrapped up neatly but by loosely laying them under the rear seats (across both seats) I'm able to store them in my 2001 T4R Ltd that way so I can imagine you can do the same in a newer model.

If you have the double-decker shelf, it forms a pocket behind the back seat when the shelf is up. I keep the fire extinguisher and a couple of other things in that pocket.

There isn't much storage space for little neccessities like jumper cables in the 4R. I don't have the passenger side compartment storage (JBL sub is there). The space under the front seats is too tight to fit cables there. The only option for me is leave them behind the rear wheel well.

I found out about the lack of room in the 4Runner when I packed in two snowboards and overnight luggage for three. It wasn't packed and stuffed where I couldn't see out the back windows, but I my impression was "I thought I had more room than that." I guess I need a roof top carrier, so I can keep the neccessities inside and lugguage up top.
