Strange Brake Pedal Vibration - Normal?

I have a 2006 limited, and when I press the brake - every once in a while, I feel a little buzz, like the brakes are adjusting or something. It's slightly annoying, but I'm getting used to it.

Is this normal? Do you all feel that with your 4runners? The dealer says this is 100% normal operation, but I'm not sure I trust them on this.

Pretty sure it's normal...I also feel the vibration from time to time.

My other car does the same thing when it first hits 4-5MPH after starting, but never after that. It's the ABS system testing itself, and I'd imagine it's probably the same sort of thing with the 'Runner.

Well... it is very noticeable during normal driving - I am surprised if it is normal that there aren't posts about it.

It's like every other time you hit the pedal there is a strange vibration like the brake system is pressurizing. I don't remember it during my test drives.

So, I know there are a lot of 4th generation owners on here - do you guys feel this vibration thing every second or third time to push the brake pedal?

Thanks!

-Mike

I have similar problem with my brake, it also feel like the truck jerk a little(even if i try to stop the slowly and not slam on the brake. I then check out the rotors and notice that one of the rotor have streaks on it. i probably have a piece of rock or metal on the brake pad to cause the rotor like that. i might have to bring it back to the dealer too, because my truck is only 1 week old.

Just as a follow up:

I brought my 4runner to two different dealerships to check out the odd brake vibration - they both said that it was "normal"

At the second dealership I asked them for a test drive in a new one for comparison. They let me do this, and the brand new one had no odd vibration. But they refused to fix what I still think is a problem and told me it was normal for the brakes to do that.

So now I don't know if I should just forget about it and ignore it, or keep trying to find a solution. It's really a time consuming thing to keep dropping the car off at different dealerships - and it's not super annoying, so I'll probably just let it go.

It's very likely the dealer hasn't the vaguest clue what's causing the vibration and it's even more likely they couldn't fix it anyway. It's probably an inherent design quirk you'll have to get used to. My brake pedal thumps back at my foot from time to time and I've just learned to live with it.

Keep in mind that Toyota LOVES the word "normal" and uses it to dismiss all the complaints related to the numerous engineering oversights found on these vehicles.

From previous posts the vibration has something to do with all the functions (systems) incorporated into the master cylinder. Also the jerk/thump might be the drive shaft needing lub (lub worked for me). If you do a search, you should find info on both. After a short time you will forget all about these minor annoyances.

Have an 06 sports, almost exactly every other time or any time there is extended braking I feel it. For some reason...it doesn't bother me.

Sometimes when I start it up It feels like the pedel adjusts. Again this only happens some times.

I read in one post about someone who had the brake pedal vibration and a new master cylinder solved the problem. I'll try to dig it up...

I myself have experienced the "pedal feedback" as I like to call it. Pretty much gotten used to it for now, but if it gets worse or stopping ability starts to fade, I'll probably look into fixing the problem.

When I had my previous 4Runner ('06), I had the same thing. I also have the vibration on my '07 (though not as pronounced, but we bought it used, so not sure if they changed anything). My co-worker has an '06 Sport v8 (mine are/were both SR5 v6's) and it's on his when I drove it as well. Didn't/doesn't really bother me. Since all 3 that I've driven have the same thing, I just considered it a quirk that I forget about until it's mentioned...
