My 99 limited w 118k was occasionally not starting so it was time to replace the starter. The starter was a real pain to install mainly due to corrosion and stuck bolts.
It started up great when i was finished but now when I drive the fuel gauge goes right to full even though I know I have 1/2 tank, and then within seconds of driving it goes to 0 with the light flashing.
I don't see how this could be related to the starter job but it must be. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't disconnect the battery at first and arced it pretty good after pulling the pos cable off the starter. I don't see how this could affect e gauge though.
Any help would be appreciated as I really don't want to go to the dealer!
