strange metal board underneath

Did anybody take a look your T4R (mine is Limited) underneath? I found there is an strange metal board there is actually open to rear. It located underneath between two front doors. Because it is open to rear, I am thinking if I back up on an rock like off-road place, it will get hit and damaged quite easier.

I will take a picture for it later. Not sure if my T4R has any problem.

I think you're referring to the skid plate. The limited/sr5's have partial skids to the best of my knowledge. Check out this thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/77769-fuel-tank-skid-plate-install-te-one-sr5.html

I guess the skid plate thing should be stacked together with the thing which they protect for. The board I saw is actually about 4" away from the actual body. Anyway, I will take the picture it will replace thousands of words.

AAAAAAAAAHHHH. That explains what those tabs are for on the back of my skid. I knew something attached there, but I assumed it was another skid for the TE. I don't have that plastic piece. This Forum is cool.

Just another reason to spend the extra $ and get the Limited over the SR5. U-joint splash guard!
