I've got a 94 4Runner with a 22re. Since the weather has turned cold, I've got an odd noise that disappears on warmer days. Engine temp doesn't effect it, just ambient temp.?(no- im not on drugs) Also it only makes this noise between 1500 & 2500 rpms. Its a clicking or ticking kind of noise(like a tumbleweed caught in the fan) that seems to be coming from the front of the engine compartment around the alt or p steering pump. It does it while sitting still OR while driving & with the clutch in OR out. The only way to make it stop on cold days(below 60 or so) is to keep it out of that rpm range. nobody can seem to figure out what it is. Any ideas or thoughts? thanks for any help.
