Strange Question: Cigarette Lighter

I have always wondered if perhaps I was losing my mind. I always had vehicles that when you pushed in the cigarette lighter, they stayed in until they heated up and popped back. I don't smoke but needed the lighter the other day to try and heat up a small shrink tubing. Pushed it in and it wouldn't stay in the unit. Minor issue but anyone here know what this is about?? Thanks in advance.

Haha I don't know why I think it's funny! I thought they all stayed pushed until hot too. mine doesn't stay pushed in either, doesn't get even the slightest bit warm holding it pushed in but charges my phone.
