Strange tire wear

So, I'm in need of new tires, but I don't want to spend the money on new tires until I figure out what is causing this wear.

Only on the front tires, and on the outside edge, I'll get 3 or 4 inches of no tread (very worn), followed by an inch or two of good tread, then repeating. The inside edges, as well as the rear tires are fine.

I know the lower balljoints are bad, and that a front wheel bearing was replaced just before I bought the truck. Could either of those cause such wear? I've been told yes and no, as well as that it could be bad shocks...

You might have better luck just taking it the tire shop and having them do the alignment when they put the new tires on.

The tires look straight, and I think they are only leaning when turning... I've planned on an allignment, but I don't want supprises with having to replace any other parts at that point. I like to know what I'm going to spend ahead of time.
