Strange Transmission Knock - any ideas?

Hi all,

I have a '08 Sport, V8 4WD with 28K on the ODO. The last couple of days I noticed a significant "Knock", pretty sure it's from the tranny. Only happens when in "R" or "D" not present in "N". Doesn't matter if I'm moving or not and lasts for about 15-30 seconds, then everything is fine.
The only thing different is that it has been colder than anytime since I bought this car 11 month ago with the temp in the garage about 45 deg.

Anyone have experienced anything like this? I need to know since the warranty will be up in February.

We need a better description. What are you doing when it makes this sound? Accelerating, standing still, etc etc, does it happen when shifting gears?
