Stray Wire, 22RE

This is a 1987 22RE, 90% Stock.
I found a stray wire protruding from a small bundle of 3 wires going from the ignition coil/pack to the distributor, just before the GREEN connector. It is bundled with one RED and one YELLOW wire. This third wire is has no insulation on it, and is just hanging out in air.
Can anybody tell me where it should go?

I just checked my truck. and there is only 2 wires, a red and a yellow. Some bigger picturs would help to tell what it is.

The first image is of the wires leaving the ignitor/ignition coil on the driver's-side fender wall.
In the second image is a close-up of the first, it looks like the wire is grounded on the small bracket before looping up and going into the sheathing. That is where the Red, Yellow, and this bare wire come together in the sheathing.
The third image is where the sheathing ends and the Red and Yellow wire go to the connector, and the bare wire is just left hanging.
I hope this gives a better look at my problem.

If anyone can compare this to their 22re and give me a clue, thanks!

I checked my '85 and it only had two wires. I'm no expert by any means but my bet is its a shielding wire to keep noise from interfering with the electronics. Hope that helps.

It looks like it could be a connection to ground. whats at the end of the wire? does it have a hole in it?

You can see that it is grounded near the ignition coil. But where it reappears near the distributor, it is just uninsulated, frayed wire strands.

possibly an after-market tach was put in before? some go to the distributer
