Street or Trail?

Obviously most 4Runners spend the majority of their time on paved streets. How many have broken their off-road cherry?

Since '04 it's seen it's fair share of dirt but it cleans up well for a night on the town.

myy 99 was taken straight from the dealer, to a trail..... the 04 took a week to see a trail.
I bought a 4x4 to WHEEL IT

Maybe an easier question to ask on this forum is, "Who hasn't gone offroad yet?"

But since this is about who HAS.... it should be manditory to post your favorite photos :D

random one I like because of the scenery

I've been offroad in it, but the main purpose of a 4x4 for me was for driving in snow, as with the A/T's and 250lbs in the cargo area it is very hard to beat in snow.

Here was mine....

We bought our '04 6/9/10, and it was in the mud on 6/25. =) I'm pretty sure the previous owners used it as a grocery getter/commute vehicle [Raleigh, NC], and also pretty sure it never saw mud before us.

Stuck, before it even had a permanent plate. My husband is now hell-bent on beating this hole; he's gotten stuck in it twice so far...

Hoping to take the Runner to Uwharrie next month. Definitely looking forward to that.

Nice thread idea, btw.

Ditto to several others....from the dealer to off roading withing days of bringing her home.

Only mod was to go from the bling rims & tires to proper 4x4 treads!

1st photo shoot the day I signed the paperwork:

1st dirt on my new vehicle 2 weeks later:

I have had mine for about a month now and its never seen dirt/mud. I did go in the grass once though... lol. Its only a 2wd though (even though 2wd will so do alright for texas offroad)

I had to wait three days for new tires. Once they were on I immediately headed for the mountains. This was taken on that trip:

Great pics!

Those are some great pics. The Runners love to play! Mine is an identical twin seperated at birth from Ruffian's. I am really partial also to the 3rd Gens. The body style has always wowed me.

Keep slingin' dirt, snow, mud, whatever...

I'm jealous.... I can't off-road yet. My spine can't take the jostling after my recent 3 level fusion (OUCHHHH!). So I just sit around and post on message boards and live vicariously through the rest of you.

My 4Runner should be able to enjoy the backwoods in mid-September if my x-rays show a complete fusion. Here's to hoping. :hungry:

I love the 3g's as well, but my kingdom for a Pacific Blue Metallic. I absolutely love that setup. We couldn't find one anywhere, so my wife bought a Honda Pilot in the same shade (but it has a different name of course) but it looks way better on the 4Runner if you ask me. I ended up getting a white one because I couldn't find that Pacific Blue. If you ever sell it just let me know! :)

Best wishes to a swift recovery, BamBam. Gotta get you back off the road!!
