stripped screw center console

simple

freakin... I've been workin out a lot lately and I applied a bit too much torque on the screw on the center console. You know that little comparment that you push in a little bit and it opens right under the climate control knobs? Yeah, open the little door and at the top of that compartment there is a screw that secures the info and ac panel. Thats the screw I stripped. Anybody know how to remove a screw like that? And also, would I just have to replace the screw or do i have to replace the panels?

Thanks

Ok, my terminology is all screwed up. Its not stripped, it just turns and turns and doesn't tighten or comes out. I tried pulling atit while turning with a vice grip...still nothing. Nobody has any advice?

Well, if any one ever strips that screw, here's the deal.

The screw that goes into that little cubby I guess is very soft, because the thread on the screw completely disappeared in the middle. I was really worried that I was going to have to get another center console but what the thread screws into is just this little metal bracket that clips onto the center console. That was undamaged, only the screw went bad. I'm a happy camper.

And I was going the 'bore a hole into the screw until it breaks' route, but when my drill ran out of juice I just kept playing with it pulling it in different directions with the vice grip until it just popped out. I thought I snapped the head of the screw off but it was all there.
