Strut and Coil Length Question

Ok, I'm going to explain this the best I can...and it might sound stupid.

I was installing Tundra Bilstein 5100s with OME 881s last week. I noticed that with the coil sitting on the seat/perch of the strut, the coil is longer than the piston rod. So I have to compress the coil in order to get the top plate on. Isn't this bad because the once the coil is released, it's always applying tension to the piston rod of the strut (essentially, pulling the rod out of the strut)? I understand this tension is needed to keep the top plate in place.

I ask this because I currently have the coils on the 1st perch of the strut. I'm thinking about moving it up to the 2nd perch. But doing this will just mean even more tension on the piston rod. I'm wondering if this is bad or if struts are inherently designed to handle this much tension or pressure from coils?

Your feedback is much appreciated. Please don't blast me.
