Struts, shocks, UBJ - butt raise?

Newbie question here again:

if I'm going to do the CVs and LBJs, should I just go ahead and do the struts, shocks and UBJ? I won't be doing this stuff myself because I just don't have the tools.

If so, on the rear end I would like it lifted a little so that if I am pulling a trailer the butt doesn't sag.

Other than the dealer LBJs and i've decided on CVs from Napa; what would the other part numbers be for stock look but a bit of a butt raise?

Airbags in the rear for towing both our T4R and FJ have them. I think they're around $75 and took less than an hour to install with basic tools. Gives approx 3/4inch lift due to filling in gap in springs. Also look at Fj rear springs they raise the rear approx 1 in. I used my FJ springs as they were sitting in the garage after upgrading (the FJ). Just check the FJ forums and craigslist usually can find them free/cheap -J

You can test the UBJ's for play. I would do at least the outer tie rods as they usually wear out the quickest of the steering components.

any year FJ for springs (which are the coils?)?
 
Replace your rear springs if they are sagging, this is a known issue and is obvious on all 4runners of age.

I went with OME 890 coils and longer travel shocks and brake hose, this gave me about 2.5"-3" lift in the back - with 265s (tires) this looks and rides perfectly, IMO.

I had to add a 1" spacer up front to "level" it out, but I also have a slight rake forward, which I like. Again with 265s it looks right. Future upgrade for me will be 5100s and springs and retire the spaced stock front coils and shock.

I thought that 07-09 FJ coils give somewhat of a higher lift capability compared to the newer 10-14 coils? :noidea:

Fronts differ 2wd vs 4wd. A lot of 2wd FJers install 4wd springs up front for a mild lift-2wd front coils sit lower. The newer 10+Trail Team FJC's seem to have front failures the front springs break-don't know if Toyota changed manufacturers. I believe all 07-14 rears are the same.

Since FJC suspension parts are easy to come by and usually free I installed them in both our 98 and 00 T4R's along with 880's/883's that were on the FJ at one time. The rear FJ springs gave it a mild lift 1/2-1in and helped prevent it from always bottoming out on the factory bump stops. It firmed up the rear but didn't make it too stiff. It was our 1st upgrade for the saggy rear-ends/nose up that the T4R's are known for.

Also (unrelated but related) 07-09 front FJC coilover shocks differ from 10-14 as they are narrower at the lower mounting point only but can be massaged to fit.

Assuming you want a mild lift, get a set of toytec springs and 5100's from toytec for the same price as that eBay ad
