Stuck calipers - Need to replace the pads and rotors?

So I know(or very strongly believe) my front calipers are freezing. Going with the NAPA reman's this time, OEM pads and will turn my Centric rotors.

My replacement pads won't be here til next week, and have a trip this weekend. Can I replace the just caliper and reuse my current pads/rotors for the week? Then replace the pads, and get the rotors turned?

short answer: yes. if you re-use the pads & keep them matched to the rotors before you turn them they will be fine, especially for a short time.

when you change them, turn the rotors & install new pads & do a proper bedding in procedure.

were the calipers original? how many miles?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Any other strangers on the internet??

These are centric brand 5th gen brake calipers. Installed 11/4/17 @ 163,523. I'm at ~192k?? I believe..
 
I would visually inspect the pads first and decide if you want to still use them. Only 1 of the 2 pistons on my caliper was seized, causing the pad to wear at a heavy taper.

I guess if I used it anyways one piston would have just extended more than the other to take up the slack in uneven wear? Not sure if there are any negative concerns with it, but I was not comfortable reusing the old pads in my scenario, but it was also my first time doing brakes so I was perhaps because overly cautions.

Those are just my observations from my own experience.
 
so you only got ~30k miles out of the 5th gen calipers? that stinks.

i agree if the pads are tapered or worn uneven that would be a concern to reuse them, i guess i assumed they were worn evenly. if they are uneven it would probably be best to just do the brake job 1 time & be done with it. if the current pads/calipers still stop ok, maybe just leave it as is for your trip, then do them the right way when youget back. it really depending on the condition of the current pads, if they are in decent shape reuse them.

You are probably aware that most brands have different level of products available for most of the vehicles.

Different reman. process are used depending on the line.

Be selective in what you choose... :keyboard:
