Stuck fuel filter

Have now made two attempts at replacing the fuel filter. I have no idea the age of the one on there, but it just isn't wanting to come off. Looked like PO stripped one end on a previous attempt. I started on the other with some penetrating oil soaked for a day or two and large vice grips. It just wouldn't break lose. So now I'm stuck. Normally, I'd break out the torch to heat it up a little but probably a bad idea on the fuel filter. :rip:

Anybody got any ideas? I'm to the point of just cutting the thing out and replacing part of the line and filter but figured I give you guys a chance if you have a better idea.

Ive delt with this issue on a friends 88 3.0L it had been tightened to much. May have been from the factory? The shape of the flare on the line flares the fitting making it grow in diameter to the point the threads wont come apart without the use of a lot of force and vise grips.
Resulting in unusable fitting for the new filter.

Ive read where people use hose clamps and rubber fuel line to attach a different style filter.

I had to remove the line from the frame rail, already had the tank out and that shorter line.
found metric flare nuts locally but not metric fuel/brake line.
experimented with the 5/16 tube and rebuilt the line with that. IT sucked but turned out nice and his truck was super clean so it was worth saving
