Studded snow tire size

Currently I have 265/70R16 all season tires on my 2001 4Runner. We just moved to CO and live at 8,550'. We have a steep driveway and I need to buy studded snow tires. My question is, if my all season tires are 265/70R16, then should I buy the same size studded snow tires?

I might consider 245/75/16's. A true winter tire will work well, a tire like the Atlimax (General) or a others are studdable too. That size has about the same O.D. as your current tires but are a bit narrower which is generally better for snow/slush etc. The same O.D. means your speedo will be correct and it'll perform pretty much as it does with the summer tires.

A final advantage is that's a popular and comparatively inexpensive size.
