stupid 5th gen headlight question

I recently added a set of hid lights to my 5th gen. I know i know, reaaly need to retro fit projectors...I will probably end up doing that now since I dont like the spread of light. My question is, are the dim lights supposed to stay on when I turn on my brights? I know on most cars the dims go off when brights come on, and i thought the T4R was the same. I just noticed that the brighs and dims were on together tonight while checking out the hid kit. I sure hope thr hids aren't causing the dims to stay on. Thanks.
