I really hate these new dipsticks. Which side is the correct reading?

I am not trying to be a smart azz, but it probably doesn't matter because the little 'dots' are at the same vertical position on the dipstick. Just keep the level between the two of them (closer to the top one, preferably) and you should be okay.
Maybe they don't put "Add" and "Full" on there because Toyota sends their vehicles to so many different nations and they don't want different languages on each one. I don't know.

Depending on how long you wait after you turn the engine off to check the oil level, you will get some of the oil draining down the dip stick tube. If you pull the stick as soon as you shut the motor off it will look like your pic. Wipe the stick off a couple times untill both sides of the stick show the same level. Also you may want to rotate the stick 180 degrees and stick it back in and read it again.

lol sorry guys I think you didn't understand my question. I'm not that stupid lol. The reason why i'm asking is, one side shows that the oil level is way overfull, and the other side shows that its right on. And it does it everytime I check the oil level. I just want to know if there is too much oil in there or if it is dead on.

The dip stick should go in one way. If its in wrong it will stop before it goes in all the way. What happens is the stick bends and rubs the tube on one side which shows overfull. The stick should go all the way in without getting stuck. If it does, wipe it clean and rotate it 180 degrees and re-insert it. When it goes all the way in without stopping you should get the same amount of oil on both sides.

Notice how in the top pic the oil does not have a clear cut off, it just kind of fades away? The bottom picture shows a more clear "line" like it was actually dipped in oil and not rubbed by the tube.

Yeah, there's definitely a problem when you stick it in and something rubs against it.
Seriously, though, the best time to check the oil level is after the car has been sitting for awhile - preferably when the engine is cold. That way, almost all of the oil will be in the pan.

Mine does the same thing. I get the best readings on the first withdrawl after the engine has been off quite a while (hours) and the oil has had the chance to drain out of the dipstick tube. Otherwise, one side is better than the other but neither is particularly clear, and trying the dipstick in different rotational configurations doesn't help.

Yes I did measure the oil level when the engine was cold (didn't even start the 4Runner that day). I was kinda worried because the manual says that the vehicle takes 6.2 liters of oiland I almost put in 7 liters so I just wanted to make sure I got the right reading. Thanks a lot guys
I have yet to get a good reading on dip stick or should I say a reading that I can read(V6). No matter how I put that stick in the reading is to high and not readable on either side. I don't think I am a dummy but the stick stinks and I am glad other people have the same problem. I put 5.5 qts in on a change as per the manual and I get about that much out on a drain. Would be nice to be able check oil between changes though.
