So I hit a huge puddle yesterday and it cover my whole rig. No skids on so it got all up in my guts....... And this morning my radio cut on and off then my battery light and abs light came on.

I'm pretty sure it's my alternator so I'm going to do the gm upgrade.
There is a local shop specializes in alternators and they will make the gm alt have a yota plug so I don't have to slice and dice for 20 bucks


Is that the right thing before I buy it?

Dang I didn't even know there was a GM upgrade, but 20 bucks for plug and play is money well spent.

lol that sucks that people's alt die by water splashing, and mine is still alive after years of submerge under water, caked with mud and chips from rocks.

are you sure its the alternator? could have gotten water in the fuse box or something no? just a thought before you bought new stuff

sooooo its alll began when i pulled in the parking lot at work..

so after work i called my mom with her f150 and was like pull me (since i didnt want to kill the batt) and she asked me to start it up and see whats up and NOTHING WAS WRONG, NO LIGHTS, NO NOTHING!

i drove it 20 mins home like nothing :shrug:
i saw some corrosion on the lead from the batt, cleaned it up and tightened up the bolt for it.

alternator usually go back to work once all the water is gone from inside. so spray with with some wd40 and let it sit for a day with the hood open, see how that works.
