so my 91 toyota 4 runner is the first truck i've owned and i have a few questions.....first off, it's a v6 2wd.....so my questions

what is the ECT button and when is it best used?

when should i be using overdrive?

is it OK to tow stuff, and how much?

and is normal for the engine temp to be higher when towing?

Thanks everyone in advance, i know they might be stupid questions, but figured i'd ask some 4 runner owners for best anwsers

ill answer u best i can...

the ECT controls the transmision . i use it to save gas, and when im patient. when im in a hurry i turn it off ,the light turns on @ the dash and its worse on gas but drives more normal in my opinion.

overdrive i use when ever i can ,but if your truck shifts alot and is under powered like most of the 3.sLow engines R it just helps heat up the transmission shifting back and forth.and cause more wear and tear.

if u tow something i would turn OD it off. should run warmer towing, up big hills but not much ...i tow my snowmobile so maybe totals at 1200-1800 lbs trailer n all ,and i dont know its there.
not sure the max tow capacity .
