Stupid questioon, how to unlock rear gate?

I bought a 1994 4runner, in great shape. I can't seem to figure out how to unlock the rear door so I can open it and put stuff inside. I know, you hafta be smarter than the lock, and it should be a no brainer. But wheter I turn the key right or left, no action on the lock. The window goes down when I turn the key right, goes up when I turn the key left, but the lock stays locked, no matter what I do. I don't have a factory manual, so I'm unsure if there's a secret button in the cab somewhere. Oh, yeah, and when I crawl in the back, I can't pull it up with my fingers.

i believe if you roll the window all the way down you can just lift the lock up from the inside to open. If the window is not all the way down, the lock will not open.

Concur with above answer. There is no power-unlock. You have to reach in when the window is down. It does lock automatically when you start rolling the window up.

93.. same here. lock pulls up. no power lock.

you cant miss it man. roll the window down and peek inside, there's a little lever you pull up on on the inside. its about an inch wide. then pull up the handle to drop the gate. :headslap:
