Stupid Suspension ?

I know that just about every single truck has a rake from front to back, usually the back sits 1-2" higher than the front to accomidate for the payload, but what about suv's, does my 99 4runner have a rake like that or any at all, because the lift kits i have come by are flat out 3 in front and 3 in rear, but i have seen plenty of guys using like 3" up front then using LC coils, that give 5-6" of rear lift, does it look wierd or are they just doing it for the weight of added components in the rear, thanks guys.

Both.

They use it to accommodate load mostly and some do it just for appearance, I think it looks strange but some like it. You need to go with what you like .

With the body lines, and the roofline of the 3rd gen 4Runner being the way they are, a little rake actually makes it look level.

If the wheel well gap is identical front and rear, so that there is "no" rake, the rear end of the truck still looks lower because of the roofline.

However, if the rear wheel gap is .5-1" greater than the front, the roofline looks level. Anymore than that, and the roofline looks obviously raked.

I personally really like the look of a slightly raked 4x4 and it does help when carrying heavy stuff in the back. To me, slight rake makes a truck look more aggressive too.

I still have to lower my front coilovers a little, maybe half an inch or so to get the amount of rake I want.

i agree 100% the rake looks much better than an even amount front and rear, i will be going with a raked lift without a doubt, just need to figure out how much first, was thinking of going with a 1.5" body lift, a full 3" coil up front, and using the lc 9 wrap coils in the rear, from what i gauge will give about 5-6" of lift, with the extra wait i will have should net me a rake of about 1", if not then i will have to hunt down a set of lc 8 wrap coils as well.

What size tire you plan on running with all that lift?

I did plan on running 3" coils upfront, lc 9 wrap out back, and unfortunately a 1.5" 4crawler BL, dont like them at all, but no true 6" lifts for a 99 runner, i plan on running 35" claws
