Subaru STi too much for my wife

....and too costly for as little as it gets driven and my wife just thinks it's a bit much for her and I'm too anal over the car so we have it sold and we made over $1500 what we paid for it a little over a month and 1000 miles later. I'll miss it but I want a car that won't get me into trouble and attracts less of the boy-racer crowd revving on the car at every stoplight which my wife also didn't care for.

I also really want to get a 5th gen TE in the next two years so I compromised with my wife and we have decided on a new more sensible and cheaper (but still sporty and fun to drive) and will reveal it as soon as it's get an upgrade over it's OEM tires and window tint.

I'll give you guys some hints:
It's a 2012 Domestic (my first in 20 years,a little scary but it is what she wanted but I was iffy but came around)
Probably the best looking generation of this model.
Closer to 150hp than 200hp but enough for a fun drive and the steering is very good along with the mpgs.
We did get a rare 5 speed as the dealer said 9 of 10 are automatics.
It's not a Chrysler

Ford Focus? I believe that you get a 5-speed with those.

Chevy Cruze or Sonic? But, those are 6 speeds i believe.

No Chrysler means no Dodge, right? Because i would have guess the new Dart...but i don't think that has come out yet.

My bet is on FOCUS. Otherwise, i think that you got the Ford GT500, which is very sensible for your wife.

She really wanted to upgrade from her '09 SE Focus which was decent transportation but didn't exactly inspire any excitement from the 3 speed auto so we upgraded to a 2012 5 speed (only about 10% of these cars get it) .......

Next week it goes in for a tint job and then gets 215/55/16 Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires at each corner;I wish I would've opted for the 17"s but I can upgrade later but the OEM 17"s aren't too shabby.
Already removed the flex-fuel and dealer badge and probably will Plasti-dip the chrome strip on the grill and tint the tails......and.......and.......oh no,please stop me this is my wife's car......hehe......it needed a little to stand apart from the rest.

It is nicely appointed for a $20k car that's rated to get 26city and 36hwy. The paint is Red Candy Metaliic with tinted clearcoat.

Some of the highlights in the SE Sport package:

Telescoping and tilt wheel
iPod,USB and SD card slot in the center console armrest
Sirius radio
Voice control
LED lighting throughout with color change capabilities
My Touch Ford and sync and upgraded 6 speaker system
Moonroof and alarm

The only options we didn't get was the automatic dual zone climate control,nav and the heated seats (I wouldn't have minded these),heated mirrors and puddle lamps.

This car has no gas cap;I'll take some pics as it does make me a little nervous since you can't lock the filler door. I still won't be filling it as the dealer gave us our first three tankfuls as a perk but I'm investigating this.

Actually, those stock rims ain't bad...pretty nice IMO!! I don't know...to be honest, i would go for those ECO tires instead...hey maximize the already efficient powertrain. But, that's me, an old fart talking....

It's got Continental ContiProContact on there now and they do have a 500 treadwear rating but the DWS is rated even higher at 540 and while Z rated they still have a 50k mile warranty and are $8 a tire cheaper.

The ContiProContact is what my Subaru has. It is a grand-touring all season tire...basically it is a comfy quiet highway tire. I actually love the tire...and according to TireRack comparos (actual TR testing, not consumer reviews), the ProContact is a very good tire for what it is.

I don't know man...i would keep it since it is actually a premium tire, not a cheapo tire. At least, keep it for a while.

Here's the ST model due sometime this fall with 252 turbo charged horses but for the money I'd rather have the regualr WRX which has more horses and is AWD. But it is still a cool looking car.

Did you get the "Active Grill Shutter System" with the Focus
and the Active Park Assist????

Working at a Ford dealer, I see these all day long. I know on some models that actually have an accessory "locking plug" that you can install if you're worried about it. But I wouldn't sweat it. Try pushing the metal flap where the gas pump nozzle goes with your finger, bet you can"t push it down.. Also there should be a white funnel in the trunk for if you ever run out of gas, stick that in the filler neck then you can dump some gas in the tank.


Also, try not to lose the remote/key. They are about $125.00 for the normal key and if you have the remote/key you leave in your pocket, then those are around $180.00
and need to be programmed which is usually an hour labor.

Yes,it does have the active grill shutters but I have the 5 spd so no active park assist.

DWS's are on our C30 now, as the second set of tires. So far I'm really impressed with them over the stock Michis.
