Suggestions for a audio,video,nav h/u for 2011 LTD

Hi guys,

I've finally placed my order for a grey 2011 Ltd, without nav. I'm looking for a

unit that would take the place of the factory nav, play audio/dvd's and nav

function. I am a real hater of anything apple and through out my research I've

noticed that everything is ipad,ipod,iphone, iomgihateapple. Does anyone have

any suggestions to an h/u that is non-apple or has the world been taken over!!!

I pity the foo who plays with them i's.....

there is no headunit that is made by or uses apple software they are all just compatible with the i pod, since you will clearly not be using the i pod controll i would recomend the kenwood excellon kenwood is lacking in ease of use with the i pod this year but has a very good garmin based navigation system and all the newest features like blue tooth audio and such.

as far as finding something that isnt designed to wor with the i pod. thats not going to happen, every head unit i carry has the capability of controlling an i pod every deck from 100.00 to 2000.00. they do that because it is hands down the most popular mp3 player in the world and it would cost many sales on a unit that you couldnt use the i pod with. but just because it has the ability doesnt mean you need to use it. not having an i pod will not lose you any features.

Thanks for the reply. I like the garmin based nav, as I have a nuvi at the moment. I will look into it!

Will a DNX 9980 first of all fit in a 2011 ltd without nav?
If so can it be used with the factory backup camera?
Can the steering wheel controls work with it?
Will it jive with the JBL speakers and party mode?
Can the factory USB be attached to it?

Sorry for so many questions. I'm having trouble finding the right answers with the research I have been doing. Thanks.

the usb and back up camera will work if you are comfortale splicing some wires for the steering wheel controlls you will need a swijack from pack audio and they will work flawlesly

as for te party mode i am un sure i havent tested that in any customers cars yet but i assume it will still work because all it does is send a different signal from the amp to the speakers and your factory amp function will remain. i replaced all the speakers and amps in my 2011 so i dont have it anymore.

I've ordered the tyto-01 wire harness, the dash kit and Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface ( I've seen better reviews comparing it to the pac audio one) all from Metra.

Is it possible to use the factory antenna for the GPS instead of having to hook up the one that comes with the 9980 DNX?
I will have a non-nav 2011 ltd.

not having factory nav you probably wont have the factory antena but its on the nav isnt as picky as sat radio i installed the gps antena in my tundra above the radio inside the dash as long as it isnt below a piece of metal it works just fine. th ebad reviews for the pac stuff come from there software functioning very poorly with certain cars, thankfully they work fine on toyota. but so doesthe metra they are both good products.

Thanks for replying once again plat. So it looks like I will have to use the gps antenna along with the factory antenna, no biggie.

What about the sirius/xm radio. Will I have to pick up a SIRIUS SCC1 Connect Universal Tuner if I want to activate a sirius/xm account? Or is this for those with a portable unit seeking to use it with the 9980. I'm hoping to have everything I need for assembling when the runner arrives! If you are anyone has any suggestions or notices that I need something else feel free to add to this.

the scc1 has been discontinued for a while even if you could find one you should really use the new tuner its the same cost and newer technology. the new tuner is the
sxv100v1 it is the tuner that will plug into the kenwood unit to have built in sirius.
