Ok I have a 1996 4Runner Limited, stock aside from the audio system. Here she is,

anyway when I get back to the states I plan on a nice paint job, either flat black, or a dark candy apple type color, aside from that I would like to add nice euro style lights (but I don't know where to get them) shave the door handles and tailgate, but other than that.....I don't really know where to go after that stuff. Rims are a little out of my budget, I was planning on gettin mine powder coated so the brake dust is easier to clean off. I would like to lower it maybe an inch but it is a 4x4 so every thing I know is screaming at me to not do that, BUT with the added stereo off roading is stupid due to the hundreds of extra pound in the back. May be exhaust and intake Suggestions please

first of all, you should do whatever you want(or your money allows) and not worry about making anyone else happy besides yourself. It is YOUR 4runner, no one elses.

Secondly, anything 'pimp' you do will be expensive or it wouldn't be pimp, it would be ghetto. You should not be buying your parts off the shelf in autozone.

You could do a projector retrofit, upgrade your grill to the '02 and paint it to match your car, upgrade those frosted headlights to the '99 and up clear lens, paint your fender flares to match your main color, LED taillights instead of euro to give off a luxury look instead of ricer, perhaps a scooped sport hood.

Honestly, i wouldn't spend a dime on your stock rims, i would save you money and not powdercoat them.

hope this gives you some ideas to get started with.

Good Luck!!

Do you like the way this one looks?

Yeah I saw that 4runner on car domian a long time ago I really like it. I think I am going to stick with my stock rims though, I just need to find a easier way to clean them. I am going to keep the same color too, just have it repainted and maybe get some extra clear coat layer to give it a deeper feel. I am leaving Germany in June then I will try to get teh newer style head lights and grill. I am still catching up an all the mainenence that didnt get done while I waas deployed. Brakes, shocks. oil changes etc. then it will be on to the visual upgrades....

I agree with broncosi, its your car you do what you want. Paint it depends on you budget personally I would respray the WHOLE car. engine bay, under the car, chassis, inside. but thats a lot of money. I would suggest painting the car a similar color so the engine bay and outside kinda matches. whatever color I'm sure the car will look good. just find a body shop you trust. lowering you can check out Jaos as they have the lowering springs, however I sure there pricey. intake you can do the deck plate mod as its pretty cheap and my friend has it and loves the extra HP. not so sure about the exhaust but any straight though muffler will give you the most power and maybe the most noise. anyway good luck and happy modding!:hungry:post pics!

that pimped out ride is Fo Sheezy's himself. The gold standard of pimpdom!

One nice touch I like to point out is hood struts-not particularly noticeable-but the guys who service my ride always point out to me how much they appreciate them.

Redline sells them and some folks have done their own using LandCruiser supports.

I got stabbed in the back by my hood falling on me when my 2nd gens prop rod gave way one time and I vowed never again! I actually helped Redline Tuning find a 3rd gen owner in Michigan to test them out on and that owner got them installed for free!

Then I had to have been one of the first in the country to pay for them. It's a subtle upgrade but that's how I roll....:nicethread:
