Sulpher Smell

Went to the dealer last week and complained about the sulpher smell... had the TSB in hand. They ordered the cats and put them on the next day. They basically replaces half of my exhaust system with new piping as well. If any one has this issue I suggest you go to the dealer and do it. I have not noticed much of a sulpher smell since.

Has anyone done this with an older truck and extended warranty?

I have an 03 sport and platinum warranty till this july. I feel like if i brought this to them with the TSB they would laugh in my face.

Any thoughts?

Advice...

Hey everyone,

I'll be heading to the dealership this week or next with this issue.

I have an '05 V8 with almost 66,000 miles on it. The smell wasn't that bad until recently. Now I almost can't drive with any of the windows down without smelling it.

Anyone who has done this give me some advice about approaching the service manager? Just take the TSB in hand and tell him I want it fixed?

Also, the cats are part of the exhaust manifold. I assume they replace everything from the manifold back that includes the cat?

Thanks.

Chris

Just took my 4Runner v6 in the TSB (79600 on the odometer). The sulfur smell is gone, but getting some fumes from the new exhaust parts, so i need to get her out on the highway to burn it off. The TSB I printed out said it was covered for 8 Year / 80k.

I had this done a while back. the tech broke the studs on my manifolds when trying to take the cats off, so they had to replace them too... and i didnt pay a dime. they even set me up with a loaner considering it took about a week and a half to get the parts in.
