I've had a problem, my 02 V8 would produce a terrible rotton eggs smell, like sulphur. I tried different gasolines, no change. Six months ago I started Fuel Power 60 and the problem is now gone. Before it was so bad, I had to roll up the windows and turn on the fan. Now, nothing. If you have the problem, it's worth a try. One day when the exhast smelled like a dead horse on a $hit wagon, the dealer said he could not smell anything that wasn't normal. So, I'm going to keep using FP60 and dump the dealer.

I have an '05 V8 and you would have thought Toyota would've gotten their head out of their a$$ by now. When I get on it, it smells like a mother, I mean very very strong.
Kind of pisses me off that they didn't think enough of their customers to straighten this out.

I think it took less than 6 months, it's just that when someting goes away, you don't notice it right away.
I now use the fuel power and lube control from the same company. I got the idea from bobistheoilguy.com.
I really bought it to help my 21 year old Civic pass the Calif smog test. It was a border line failure, and I put a bunch of the stuff in my fuel and the lube control in the oil and drove a couple of hundred miles, then passed. Other products might have worked, but I'm happy with results in four vehicles, and it cleaned up the smell on the 4Runner. I don't feel like a buzzard on a wagon, any more.

My initial belief coincides with "As seen on tv" Snake Oil type she~ote. Now, I do not believe you have any reason to out-right fabricate the non existence of the sulfur smell, however - this fix is a pain in the ass and I haven't even ordered any.

Now, I what I want to know is how many of us 05 T4R owners have actually called the 1-800-331-4331 to register your complaint with Toyota about the Rotten Egg Smell.
Not that we will ever get a true fix, as I understand the new main Cat replacement does HELP but does not rid the smell entirely (for the 03 and 04 owners) - HOWEVER, if we do not complain to toyota directly (skip the dealer), then how do we mass our complaints.

I called and got a case number. I went to the dealer when the smell was strong enough to knock a buzzard of a $hit wagon and the service manager said that there was just a hit of sulphur and it was normal. So nothing from Toyota and the dealer can take his whole dealership and ..... I find the dealer less than helpful. I find the dealer is not very well informed about problems or maybe it's just their way of dealing with customers.

has any of the GX owners been complaining of this? I don't think the 05 TACO owners have complained so I wonder if this is just related to the T4R though I find it hard to believe.

i just got the tsb done and the smell is completely gone now.
the key to getting good service is looking for the right dealer... i looked up all the dealers in my area through the toyota website and found one that had the "presidential award" for service. it was further away than some other dealers, but after talking to a service person i felt confident that they would help me out without trying to give me excuses and turn me away.
make sure you look up the distinctions/awards that some dealers have in your area. stay away from those that don't have any.
