Sun Roof Making Clicking Noise.

Well my roof seems to be going out. It makes the dreaded clicking thing and now will not operate in the "automatic" mode where it closes or opens on its own.

What can I expect in the way of a repair?

Do I have to take it to the dealer or can an experienced general repairman handle this

Let those with experience sing out.

I know they may seem silly, but it's not from not resetting the switch after disconnecting the battery is it?

Are you sure the clicking isn't from the automatic wind deflector?

Sorry I've never had problems (other than those 2 things) with mine ('03), just thought it was worth asking.

Nope, nasty mechanical sound, probably slipping gears.....yuk

Mine did that too. If you're still under any warranty at all I'd run that SOB back to the dealer ASAP.

It could be a very costly repair since they have to completely remove the head liner to replace the mechanism.

I am not still under the warranty.....hoping for guideance and a new vision for repair.
