Sunroof glitch

Hey all - I've had an interesting development come to surface. I have a 2016 T4R 9200 miles and I use my sunroof all the time. Last night it started not closing while the vehicle was at a standstill (park/drive/neutral), but will close without issue while driving at 5 mph or more.

Closing the sunroof while the vehicle is not in motion it gets to about 90% closed then kicks back open to the 50% open position.

Any thoughts or experience with this conundrum?

there's a re-initialization proceedure in your owner's manual, section 3-5, "when your moonroof does not close properly"

from what I've read on here, this seems to help a lot of people. It's certainly the first step of troubleshooting.

good luck!

I'll try it now, thanks! I was always wondering what those books were for.... LOL!

Mine did something similar except it didn't matter if I was driving or not. I had the track replaced under warranty. Apparently it was messed up somehow

How about total failure? My 2014 Trail Premium's roof will not budge. I've tried the various resets with no luck. The switch clicks for both open and close for tilt and for slide, but the glass never moves. Is it possible that the motor is bad only three years in?

Is it still under warranty? Seems pretty new to have an issue like that.

Unfortunately no. My wife drives the wheels off of it. It has 90k miles on it. But I was thinking the same thing. It seems really young to have a total failure like this.
