The sunroof was making more and more noise when opening. Yesterday, when it had opened fully on the way home, it made a huge BANG/CRUNCH noise. Made my head snap up .
Tried to close it but it was stuck back, it would move ever so little forward on the passenger side, but nomovement on the driver side. Would not automatically close.
So I called the stealership right then on the cell phone, and of course they service dept is closed (4pm) already, and gee, we're all booked up this week.
So I taped the opening with a piece of plastic and duct tape when I got home, had to go on a bike ride at 6pm. On the way to the bike ride, I got the speed up near 55mph, and the wind deflector shield tried to drop, CRACK!! Loud noise again, but different from the earlier noise.
So what the hell, I pushed the close button again, and it starts closing, but a lot slower than normal, very labored, the motor was struggling so I reached up and helped by pulling the sunroof from the middle. If closed all the way.
At least when it rains today water won't get in. I have to make an appointment for next week for a fix. I will actually probably try for a couple weeks away, so I can have a damn loaner (they need two weeks advance notice of you car breaking down do give out loaners).
I want to leave my truck there, and not pick up until it's fixed, even if it takes days for parts (I suspect it will need parts.)
Keep having these little BS quality issues, and I bought amy first Toyota on the premise that they are a high quality vehicle. Sunroof, rattles(too many), brake rotors turned and replaced, radio failing. All on a two year old vehicle.
So far the only saving grace has been that it starts every day and has no drivetrain problems at all..
