Sunroof Jammed shut (yes i searched)

when attempting to slide or tilt the sunroof i get the teeniest bit of a nudge from the motor, i can just see the glass budge. when i take the motor loose (two bolts through the access hole) it spins freely, so the motor seems to be fine. is there any hope of troubleshooting the jammed-ness without dropping the whole headliner??

I'm sure you have tried this but try to help it/ work it open, and see if something is on or wedge in the rail system it slides on.. Also, you have power but when it budges does the motor stop or keep going? Sound like the normal sound or slipping or weak?

If it guest stuck open you can force it shut so don't worry about that, (but it's not recommended)

ive tried giving it a push down, but its impossible to push and operate the switch at the same time. the motor doesnt sound weak or anything, just sounds like something is in a bind and the motor cant break it loose.

Give it a few days, it may randomly work again and never have another issue (I've had this happen before with sunroofs).

You say it is stuck closed? That is literally the best possible way for the motor too fail, sunroofs are really a luxury anyway, so if you can deal without it, just leave it alone.

Yeah stuck open is when you call the SOS

98 4Runner 300K miles

My moonroof is stuck closed. The motor is fine. took it out and tested. There is play in the roof in the closed position. I can lift up the rear about 1/2 inch or so.

How would i manually open it? I can then lubricate it etc..
